Gone with the Mind<\/span><\/i> is a violent comedy about the survival of various human characters along life\u2019s rocky path. Helsinki features are not prominent, although the scenes do move in romantically urban surroundings: on rooftops, in attics, backyards et cetera. A certain group of young people make their home on the rooftops of a building on the city, living a very full life for a time until\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

The makers of this film <\/span>Gone with the Mind<\/span><\/i> have respected the expression and the traditions of the silent comedy films, a fact that makes the sound track of the film quite interesting. <\/span>Gone with the Mind<\/span><\/i> is primarly an actors\u2019 film. Based on the ancient tradition of theatre companies, the film\u2019s dialogues have been created by the actors and the stage sets have beem allowed to dictate the flow of the scenes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Janne Kuusi directed his first feature film <\/span>In the Year of the Monkey<\/span><\/i> in 1983. He also directed a feature-length documentary <\/span>The Song<\/span><\/i> (1986) before <\/span>Gone with the Mind<\/span><\/i>. Nowadays Kuusi is also known from his features <\/span>Kukkia ja sidontaa<\/span><\/i> (2004), <\/span>Prince of Soap<\/span><\/i> (2006) and his documentary <\/span>Bohemian Eyes<\/span><\/i> (2011) which reminisces the life of an actor and Kuusi\u2019s childhood friend Matti Pellonp\u00e4\u00e4. Kuusi has also influenced the next generation of filmmakers directly by teaching at the <\/span>University of Art and Design.<\/span><\/p>\n
