The Midnight Sun Film Festival will be held for the 39th time on June 12-16, 2024! The festival gathers both legendary filmmaker guests and rising stars of the next generation to beyond the Arctic Circle, offering both new film gems and the best that film history has to offer. Under the midnight sun, film lovers from all over Finland and the world unite to enjoy Sodankylä’s unique cinematic celebration and the easygoing festival atmosphere.
In Sodankylä, the festival continues all day and night, with screenings going on in the four venues around the clock. No matter the time of day, the midnight sun will keep you feeling fresh as you step out of the screening! You can enjoy films and other festival events from Wednesday morning on June 12 until late Sunday night on June 16.
Every year, some of the most unforgettable Sodankylä experiences for the audience include the magnificent silent film concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings. In the festival’s legendary morning discussions, filmmaker guests reveal to the audience which film they would take with them to a desert island, and much more.
It is time to prepare for the next festival, with the first programme releases coming in April! The 2024 programme and filmmaker guests of the Midnight Sun Film Festival will be announced in May.
Serial cards will go on sale on Monday, May 27, and the festival’s programme schedule will be released on Tuesday, May 28. Screening ticket sales start online on Thursday, May 30 at 12:00 pm.
